SnoWake: I actually fixed stage 1 after Wacka's comment, but then as MR noted, Rexy and I also encountered homeless people when we went after the final. I need to do more than just relocate the final - so I'm archiving this one, and will see if I can come up with something better. Thanks for the "bonk" [;)]

Geocache Description:

An easy two-stage cache that will show you two very different Martinez train stations: Old school, and new school. With any luck, you might even see a passenger or cargo train pass by while you're here. No need to be anywhere near the tracks at any point in time.

The first Central Pacific depot was constructed in 1876, with passenger traffic passing through by 1877. This station was in active use for nearly 125 years, until the new station opened in 2001. You'll see that the original station looks VERY similar to others from the same era found around the East Bay and beyond (found one in Talent, Oregon last year that looked almost identical, right down to the color scheme). For more history and details, you might visit the Martinez Museum, though it has very limited hours, so plan ahead.

The old station has definitely seen better days, and has been converted for commercial use (currently a costume shop, I think). At the posted coordinates, you will find replacements for the decimal portion of your minute values (don't add or subtract - just replace) which will lead you on a short walk to the final cache, located at the new Martinez Intermodal station.

The final placement also qualifies this for honorary mention in my "MTZ Micro" series - as there is a postage-stamp of a park 'connected' to the final hiding spot - from where you will get a nice overall perspective of the new station. ENJOY!
