The Pirate's Cache Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

geodarts: ARGGH! I came here to check on the cache and replenish it, but it is gone. I thought that this was a perfect location -- by the water, hidden in the traditional pirate manner, out of the way. Given the costs of maintaining this cache, I did not want to simply replace the container, and nowhere else nearby seemed quite right. So now I have a good start on a new collection of pirate supplies, no container, but an idea about where a new cache might be placed. So perhaps there will be something new for local pirates to enjoy.

Geocache Description:

Avast! There be treasure at hand for me hearties and a reward fer buckos who smartly find the fabled chest. The coordinates found on this page will take ye to the start of the trail. But yer chase lies elsewhere. Ye must read below to find the way.

Here be a cache that will take ye along the Bay to a place where buccaneers surely journeyed. There may be bilge rats and landlubbers around, so to find it, ye will need to have a bit of pirate -- don’t all geocachers have at least a drop of pirate blood?

Yarr, the first part of your chase takes you to a small container, jus' large enough to hold some pirate maps for ye and yer mateys. ARRR! The way to the map was lost in the briny deep when the bottle broke against the rocks and the message containing the last three numbers from both directions was swept away. Only this note from a pirate log remains to help ye find the maps:

Seven ships were under the command of the pirate Read, who plundered two ships as she sailed North. Two ships were under the command of the pirate Lafitte, who plundered eight ships after sailing to the West.

Yarr, the pirate cap'n kept a record of the final three numbers for the North and West coordinates, but hid these in his log to foil any lubbers who mite be sneakin' about. Find the coordinates, replace the last three numbers on the one that be posted here, and follow the path to where the map be hid.

Once ye find the map, it will take ye to a smaller container where the coordinates to the chest be kept. Think in terms of pirate paces and be ready to use yer pirate stealth. Be sure ye put the map back after usin' it.

Ye will not have to travel many leagues to find the treasure. It mite seem far if ye walk on yer peg leg, but the glass eye should not present any difficulty. Persevere: the booty is within yer grasp!

Yarr, the chest looks remarkably similar to a cartouche box, originally filled with things from pirate supply stores and treasure from the seven seas. The chest is hidden in the pirate manner, use yer pirate skills to return it so that landlubbers will not be able to find it.

Remember the Pirate Code (Arts. 2 and 10, shares are to be equally divided so take only as ye put in and leave the rest for your mateys). Ye will keep 'em happy if ye bring things that a pirate might favor, but the rum should be left at home.

This cache begins at the start of the Tiburon Penninsula Historical Trail -- Blackie's Pasture. Blackie was a sway-back horse who lived in the pasture for 28 years. He was beloved by all and had a fine pirate name (our favorite color!). Visit the statute and pay yer respects at the place where Blackie is laid to rest. The trail takes ye along the bay where there are many things for a pirate to explore.

All logs that do not contain at least one substantive pirate word obviously will have been written by a landlubber and therefore will be deleted. "Arrr!" does not count.

The Pirate Code knows no exceptions. Try not to repeat the words used in other logs or use yer words in new ways -- sign yer log with a pirate name for extra credit. Before going on the account to find this cache, ye might want to learn to:

Godspeed!

Interesting Pirate Facts: Pirates practiced democracy, had an insurance plan in case of loss of eye or limb, and did not walk the plank! Of course, they did engage in pillaging and other practices.
