Geocache Description:

For those of you who attended Crazy Cachers’ Confluence in August of 2004, the first two steps of the Memorial are the same (did you keep those notes?!), but the 3rd leg and the final cache are new.

NOTE!!! The final cache has been relocated. See the changes in red below.

The Puzzle!

First, go to the coordinates listed above; this is NOT the cache, just the first place to collect clues. Park at these coordinates and take a tour of this special place. You need to find the date the Pioneer Cabin was built and the date the restaurant was first used as an apartment building for single men. BUT, be sure to read ALL 6 plaques just for the interesting history. Subtract the two dates.
1) Add 74. This number = ABC
2) To the number in 1 above again, double it and subtract 6. This number = DEF
The Second set of coordinates are:

N 46 35.ABC W 112 01.DEF

Drive to the location and park at those coordinates. Enter the building by the South door; the building is open usually from 8:00 to 5:00 Monday-Sunday. Take the stairs you walk by and visit the huge three-story room with the paintings of early Montana explorers. Face South again and look at the two statues on the balcony. Find the last name of the couple depicted here.
With this last name, assign the numbers 1 to 9 to the letters in order.
Then use these numbers to fill in the blanks for the next set of coordinates. Use these numbers to replace the lower-case letters in the coordinates below. (Ø = zero)
The new coordinates are: (Updated 3/12/05 due to error)

N si nf.mde
W mma ØØ.dme

This will bring you to the third and last leg to collect clues. Look for the Montana statue; find its name. Assign the numbers as follows:

123bo4 o5 67e 89os

then go to

N LT MP.SSP W SSY ØØ.HPH

(Ø = zero) and seek the cache. May the force be with you.
The cache is now located on private property with the enthusiastic permission of the cachers who live here. They would love to have you knock and say hello.
