Geocache Description:

This is a 50 caliber, camouflaged ammo can.

The Big Point Cemetery is a hidden-away cemetery. I have lived here for 12 years and I never knew it existed. I was looking for places to put out caches and in doing research on the history of another cache, I stumbled across the cemetery. Jackson County Records show the following confederate soldiers buried there:

WILLIAMS, John B., Co. L, 27th Mississippi Infantry,
10/11/1842-8/1/1933, Big Point Cemetery (N30º 35.074'; W-88º 29.660')
CUNNINGHAM, W.J. Simon, Sergeant, Co. E, 3rd (Reserves) Mississippi Infantry,
1/5/1820-10/27/1894, Big Point Cemetery,
wife Mary B. also buried there (N30º 35.071'; W-88º 29.658')

I also found these US soldiers buried there, clearly marked with military headstones:

Frank H. Goff, PVT 162nd April 17, 1932
Clay O. Goff, PVT 1st Class U Inf 5th Division December 29, 1926
Richard A Davis, U.S. Air Force 1962 - 1982

The road dead-ends at the cemetery. Before you reach the cemetery you will make a 90 degree turn between a house and a house trailer and then cross over a cattlegap (I’ve been out there several times for coords and the dogs haven’t gone past the cattlegap- if they are out at all). Stay on the paved road and it will dead-end right at the cemetery.

The gate is shut, but not locked (please make sure you shut the gate back when you are done! The cemetery is fenced within a pasture!!!) This will be an adventure!

For the most part, there are very few visitors to the cemetery. Should you run into someone at the cemetery I have listed the coords of the Confederate Soldiers buried there so you can use this as a cover if you have to.

Given this cache's venue and the need to show proper respect for it, there will be NO DIGGING REQUIRED to locate the final cache container. Please DO NOT engage in any behavior that might even POSSIBLY be construed by the locals as improper, disrespectful, or sacrilegious toward the grave sites.
