Hey Cachers!
Welcome to our second cache. First things first, some of you may recognize a few of the stops in this one from an old cache that’s been archived in the last year. We just couldn’t resist trying to bring the area back to life as it was one of our first and favorite caches. We tried to put a little twist on it for those of you who have already been through it, so hopefully it’s up to par! If you recognize the coordinates, keep in mind that this one is now better suited for bikes or walking though it could probably still be done on the water if you don’t mind parking and leaving your gear for a few short walks…
The first stop you should see some red and green lights and some speed limit signs, these and the and the rest of the view from here should help you find your next waypoint which will be
N 33 43.ABC
W118 04.17B
where A equals the number of square concrete columns, B equals the number of red or green lights in view (the sum of all of them) and C equals the number of speed limit signs the same vicinity of the lights.
From here on, just about the entire cache route can be walked or ridden on nice ready made walking path which starts from in view of your current location. Your second destination is the beautiful Sunset Palms Links. It’s a little known private golf course second in grandeur only to Pebble Beach. Once you get here, you can figure out your next clues by counting the big palms on the course property, counting the numbers of holes and knowing a little golf lingo. Assuming that Waypoint #3 is
N 33 43.4DE
W 118 04.0FG
If each of the holes at waypoint #2 was a par 4 and you shot two birdies, an eagle and a bogey, your total score would be XY. The number of large palms on the course property would be Z. The two digits DE can be found by taking the 2 digit number XY and adding Z, that is XY+Z=DE. FG can be found by multiplying XY by 5 and then adding 5, that is [(5)x(XY)]+5=FG.
Once you’ve finished up at the links and make it to the next waypoint, you should come up on another familiar site if you’ve done the kayak caches. Looking toward the water, count the white regulatory signs, high and low to give you a total of “H” signs. To figure out the last waypoint and cache location,
N 33 43.H13
W 118 03.9H6
From the city code signs, you’ll just have to cross one small street before the pathway picks back up and you’ll have just a little more walking or riding to do. By the time you reach your final destination you’ll be ready for a seat, which is conveniently located within reaching distance of the prize.
If you can make it there in the first week or so of the first listing of the cache, you might find some green novelties for St. Patty's Day! Enjoy!
A little help for the golfing impaired….
