Geocache Description:

This CITO event is going to take place in Luxapalila State Park in Columbus, MS on April 16, National CITO Day.

This little out-of-the-way park was once very nice. After the city of Columbus took it over in the early 1980's, it fell into disrepair and was almost shut down. Today, the park is being restored by the city to its former glory, and a trash pick-up will greatly help.

The CITO'ing will start around 9:00am, with everyone meeting at the posted coordinates in the park. Trash bags and work gloves will be provided by the city.

The clean-up will probably last until around 12. I will supply lunch (ham sam'iches and chips, soft drinks and/or water). Anyone wanting to bring something extra is free to do so. There will be several games/door prize giveaways to participate in, so come prepared to have fun! Jackson area cacher Super Squid has even donated one of his famous "Super Squid Original" hickory hicking sticks to be given away!

If you come from afar, there are several great caches in Columbus that you can hit on the way to/from the event. There are 5 in this park alone.

Please RSVP if you are planning to attend so I can plan accordingly. The City of Columbus greatly aprreciates any help that is given to restoring this lovely park.
