In Puget Sound there are usually two low tides and two high
tides every day. On average, high tides occur 12 hours 24 minutes
apart. The 12 hours is due to the Earth's rotation, and the 24
minutes to the Moon's orbit. The 12 hours is half of a solar day
and the 24 minutes is half of a lunar extension, which is 1/(29-day
lunar cycle). This is not exact due to Bays, channels, and the
coastal topography.
To get this cache you will need to pay attention to the two low
tides a day and wait until there is a 0.0 tide. At this point you
will be able to walk up and get the cache. Any other time you try
to get the cache you will end up wet. The cache is a Bison tube
and please bring a pen or pencil to sign the log. Did I mention
this is a public boat launch? So even if there is a 0.0 tide you
may not be able to get it due to the activity at the launch. Have
fun!
By the way - You don't sign the log, you don't get credit for the
cache. I will delete any posts that don't meet the signing
requirements.
If you need to check the tides use the below website.
Tides
Scroll down to Rosario Straight, etc, > Bellingham Bay, >
and check Bellingham, then scroll to the bottom of the screen
highlight the month, day, and number of days for tides, then hit
"Get Tides."
In fairness I picked this idea up from fhsailcoach and his cache
