I've wanted to hike this entire loop for a long
time. Caching and some good friends finally made it so. Share
in our adventure by following in our footprints.
You can find this cache either by walking down from the road
above (once it's opened. At time of cache placement, the road was
closed) or taking the longer, much more scenic route up by
foot.
While bicycles are allowed on the roads below and above, no
bicycles are allowed on this portion of the trail. There are places
to lock your bike at either end of the trail.
Bring swim trunks and LOTS of fluids to drink. This trail
(particularly if you complete the 9-mile loop on the map below) has
relatively extreme temperature changes. It can be downright HOT on
the ridge come summertime. And the deep canyons cool early since
the sun sets here about 3 hours before it does at the beach here.
Bring lots of layers, WATER, snacks, camera, WATER, lunch, WATER
and, oh, did I mention...water?
If you take the scenic loop trail, you can make this ammo can
stop part of a three-fer including
"N"ot Mine and
"M"iner's Lettuce March.
