Geocache Description:

The Neuse and Eno rivers tend to get most of the headlines in the Triangle area, but the Flat River is an unknown jewel. Enjoy a hike along a scenic part of this river. The payoff is a magical spot to stop and enjoy a breathtaking view. If you're adventurous continue another couple of hundred yards up river past the carved tree and circle back down and around. You'll be glad you did! Enjoy some rock hopping and a refreshing swim in the river. If you take kids keep an eye on them, the bank has some steep drops around the cache area but getting to it should be a gentle climb. Keep your eyes open on the hike and you'll be rewarded with animal and bird sightings galore. Insect repellent is a must during the summer months.

You will be hiking across gamelands so wear blaze orange during any active hunting seasons. (Don't forget turkey season during the spring). I highly recommend seeking this cache only on Sunday's during waterfowl season. Do remember that hunting takes priority over caching on gamelands. Please respect that right!

This cache is not hard to find. This hide is about the hike. Prepare for a roundtrip walk of about 2 miles. Please use designated parking areas. I found the best area to park for this cache at N36 06.898 W078 48.392.
