A Place to Chill Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

TrailRun: Unfortunately I have to archive this cache, and the container has been picked up.

A lot of people really enjoyed this one, not because of the cache, but because of the artesian well and nice surroundings in this less visited part of Waterfall Glen. I'd recommend a visit to the established trails in this area whether or not there is a cache to find.

It's in an area the DuPage Forest Preserve has designated as not being available for GeoCaches (all of southern Waterfall Glen).

I did not attempt the permit process, because it's pretty clear the cache would not be allowed at this location.

Geocache Description:

This is a two-stage multi that will take you to a cool spot in Waterfall Glen if you're willing to make the hike. It can also be reached by mountain bike although a few parts might be challenging or require walking.

You might want to bring a camera and pick up a "locationless" cache at the same time.

The following routes are best:

1) Park at N41° 41.417', W88° 00.060', follow the road to N41° 41.498', W87° 59.382', then turn southeast to connect to the larger trail toward the cache.

or

2) Approach from the southeast side of Waterfall Glen on the main loop trail to N41° 41.593', W87° 58.903', then continue southwest toward the cache.

Do not approach directly from the west or return that way. There is private property, and the Lemont Police Department maintains and uses a shooting range at N41° 41.338', W87° 59.539'.

The cache is a 1 quart plastic jar.

As of 8/26/05 I'm going to give the cache coordinate, because twice the marker has been lost (or moved where I didn't see it) and I'd rather you find the cache then be frustrated. I thought the marker was fun while it lasted, a credit card sized piece of copper with the coord stamped into it, hidden under a rock in the pool of water. If anyone finds it, let me know and I'll take this section back out.

The web site doesn't let me change the cache type from a multi to regular, but the cache coordinate is:
N41° 41.374', W87° 59.430'
