Watermans Arms - Never at Sea Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Go catch: It is with regret that I am archiving this cache, but since the pub has now been renamed The Punter I feel it would be hard to continue this cache as it stands. It would be too confusing to rename the title as well as the whole detail that made this cache what it is. Therefore, I feel it is time to archive this to make room for a newer one if required. [:)] Thanks to all those that have taken time to look for it and enjoyed the serenity of this location.

Geocache Description:

The general theme for this gentle series of loosely connected caches is the sea, or rather the lack of it. There are many things around us that suggest that they should be in a more brine-laden setting than they actually are.

An urban mooring is provided by the Environment Agency just below Osney Bridge, close to the Waterman's Arms and convenient for the railway station. Osney Bridge has only 7 feet 6 inches headroom so only narrow boats and low profile cruisers can pass this point.

From a walkers point of view it's a touch of towpath class amid the city heave. A delightful setting for a nice little pub with a tenuous link to this series.

Examine the sign carefully and look for the name of the Waterman's boat. Use the first three letters of this to translate to numbers in the time honoured fashion of A = 1 to Z = 6 where all leading digits in two digit numbers are omitted so Z= 26 but it taken as 6. Calling the three numbers in ascending order A B and C, find the final cache using the Coordinates below.

Unfortunately, it appears that there is renovation work going on at the establishment and the sign has been removed. As I don't know when it is to be replaced I am adding this temporary clue for you to answer the question during this period.
"You are on this Island"

This city micro is a 35mm film canister with a magnet but no pencil.
