Multi Cache requiring compass and orienteering skills from initial designated gps coordinate spot. Terrain is moderate to gentle through woods with beautiful vegetation and sound effects. Note that parking close is by meter during business hours.
This micro cache has paper and pencil in hidden key box.
Your journey begins at the Pole and takes you through woods and grass to an ominous giant. Try to begin the journey at the top of the hour to hear and enjoy the beautiful medieval chimes that sound on the hour. This is also a good way to time how long it takes you to find “The Giants Navel”. This course is fairly difficult and requires orienteering skills. The accuracy of the compass angles and distances are approximate but close enough to put you on the mark if you got it right. You will need to know your pace and some basic conversions, so do a little home work. The local magnetic attraction will be the biggest factor in mastering accurate compass work, heavy metal abounds. The features are obvious once you locate the general area and clues verify that you are in the right place. ***Note all azimuths and bearings are magnetic, so set your declination to 0*. Know how to interpret between bearing and azimuth, and calculating distance in chains ( or links). Note that the * is used to denote the degree symbol.
Let the Journey Begin……..
* From the Pole at the stated coordinates, go 3.7 chains at azimuth 240*, this feature, is a good place to rest and decide the next move.
* From here, go 2.3 chains at azimuth 114* to the Big Pine where you can read about some things.
* From the Big Pine, proceed on a Bearing of N52*E, 3.8 Chains to a pole that sheds some light on a place Nedal should like and nearby he could call his coach for advice.
* From here proceed to the little metal guy named "HYDRANT" at Azimuth 77*, ~600 Links.
* From "HYDRANT" go to another good resting spot at azimuth 157*, a distance of about 1.2 chains. Stop here a moment and enjoy the view, if you are lucky you might see the pigmy pony over by the dental floss bush (which Frank quoted this phrase, do you know the album?).
* From the resting spot travel at azimuth 100* until you are stopped by a pipe rail fence next to a trail (about 1 chain).
*Take the trail up the hill. Go on the uphill trail don’t veer off onto other trails. Near the top of the hill on the trail, you will see a sign, “No Dogs, No Bikes”, stand here and observe.
* From this spot your journey is nearly complete, take aim at azimuth 202* to behold the “GIANT”. Travel on this heading approximately 3 chains and look inside its Navel for the Cache.
* Did you hear the chimes? How many times?
