Geocache Description:

A walk through the Mineral County Memorial Garden is a walk down memory lane for those of us who make our home here. As you admire the roses, you see the names of friends and family, remembering a face, a smile, or a good deed.
The beginning of the Rose Garden became a reality thanks to the Green Thumb Garden Club. This small group of Hawthorne ladies started the first garden across the street from the Mineral County Library in 1963. Upon completion of the new library in 1984, the Garden Club began their task of landscaping with memorial roses, walkways, trees, shrubs and a beautiful statue.
Individuals were encouraged to purchase a rose bush in memory of past friends or family and these were planted and nurtured by volunteers. You will find the cache in this area but you do not have to bother any of the plants. It is in plain sight and contains a log book, pencil and a "first to find" Susan B dollar.
