Geocache Description:

The Lonely Tree, a hike through the Eifel / Hautes Fagnes

For over a long time this tall lonely tree resists the forces of nature.
If you see its size and you know what gales it had to fight, you wonder how it is possible that it still stands up.

*** Now, after all this time, not nature, but man has cut this monument. Very very sad. ***

Getting to this tree will lead you through the beautiful and versatile woods of the northern part of the "Eifel/Hautes fagnes".
It is about a 5 km hike along relative good roads. If you are early and careful enough you will be able to see some wildlife.

Hmm, what can I tell you about the ditch? Find out yourself.

Park your car at N50 37.953 E6 12.173.

WP1:
The coordinates in the header point to the first waypoint. At this waypoint you will notice the remains of a blue number on the ground (x).
If you can't find x then, from this number go to N50 37.421 E6 12.501. At this point you will notice a blue number on the ground (q).
x = q -1.

To calculate the coordinates for waypoint 2: a = x*x*(x+1) and b = x*20-4
N50 37.a E6 12.b

WP2:
At WP2 you will see at the right side of the road a sector number on a tree (yz).
The final coordinates will be calculated as follows: c = x*y*z + 42 and d = c - 6
N50 37.c E6 12.d


Please be so kind to rehide the cache where it was hidden. It is meant to stay where you find it.
