Don't even think of trying this without four wheel drive. You won't get two miles without it. You will also need a beach permit to travel here. The local stores have them for $6. It's good for the year. If you can get to the location, you can walk right up to the cache. The cache is a large ammo can with some nice prizes. The FTF is a cool urban-cammo micro that I made.
You can hike to this cache but it's over a 10 mile hike from the nearest parking. The container is located in a group of trees just off the beach. Four wheel drive is a must. This is probable one of the most remote places in Texas. It could be hours or even a day or two before you see another passerby. Watch out for cows and snakes. There's a big herd of both on the island. Be sure to have a full tank of gas before you venture out there. If all of this doesn't scare you, then good luck and enjoy the tranquility. If you are a beach comber, you will enjoy the undisturbed miles of beach.
