Emerald Isle Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

markmacallister: I have given up trying to maintain a cache in this location. It was a great spot for young children and other first-timers; unfortunately, someone insisted on removing the cache and holding it in his house for days at a time. Not sure what the thinking there was, but anyway....

I'm glad that those of you that found it enjoyed it.

Nice and easy cache for anyone visiting the beach at Emerald Isle, North Carolina.

**THIS CACHE IS DISABLED. A NEW CACHE WILL BE PLACED IN THIS LOCATION ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2005.**

This is a nice, easy cache for anyone visiting the beach at Emerald Isle, North Carolina. It is especially appropriate for families with young children just learning to geocache. This geocache was "refurbished" on July 3, 2005. Some muggles hijacked it around Labor Day 2005 but it is back in place as of September 26, 2005.

This cache is a Tupperware-type container. We left a variety of "gumball machine" toys in there: pencil erasers, a "hairy pen," a plastic whistle, a toy fish, etc. There is also a log and a couple of real pens, so please be sure to sign the log when you visit.

PLEASE NOTE that there is no good place to park a car near this cache; the police will tow your car if you park in the nearby handicapped zone. The cache is best approached on foot from the beach. (In fact, a recent log entry noted "A great place to park in order to search for this cache is at the Bogue Inlet fishing pier. The cache is approx. 500 yds. from the pier. Parking at the pier is $5/day during the summer season, but it's free after 5:00 p.m. or so. Take a walk on the beach, find the cache, and then return for an evening walk on the pier. Kids will love it.")
