MONKEY BRIDGE Traditional Cache
d&c: This cache has obviously gone missing - not for the first time! It used to be at the bottom of our garden, but since we have now moved, we will not replace it.

Another cache along the Kennet and Avon canal, this time in Newbury. If you come from the suggested parking there is a footbridge to cross - accessible to all.
This cache was originally hidden and named after The Monkey Bridge which was a bridge over the Kennet and Avon Canal which also took the main water pipe across the canal to properties in 'westfields'. It was constructed by the local firm Plenty's, but we haven't been able to find out how it got it's name. Some people called it the Rainbow Bridge, but to locals it is the Monkey Bridge. Early in 2008 the bridge was replaced by the existing structure and "The Monkey Bridge" was taken away to be recycled. Suggested parking is in the car park at N51 24.181, W001 19.921. The notice says the gates shut at 10.30 p.m. The cache is a long fairly thin clip and lock plastic container covered in brown tape. Please take care when retrieving and hiding the cache as there are canal boats very nearby.
