Geocache Description:

Mt. Storm Park, Clifton Gaslight District

Mt. Storm is a very appropriate name for this park, at least to me. Several years ago, some friends and I used to come here to watch storm fronts roll in from the west. It was often an impressive sight to see large thunderheads boiling over the western hills of the county before we made a mad dash under the pavilion or to our cars to avoid the rainstorms. When placing the cache, my son and I enjoyed watching about a dozen hawks soar and circle above our heads, riding the thermal updrafts rising from the Mill Creek valley and the asphalt corridor of I-75. From the pavilion area, there is a great view of the heavily industrialized Mill Creek valley and some of the western hills and ridges of Hamilton County. There is a benchmark mounted on the concrete floor just outside of the pavilion; if you are a benchmark hunter, don't miss logging this survey disk. Also, there is a small play area with swings, slides and jungle gym, so you can let the kids use up some excess energy if you bring them along to this cache.

This park, with it's rolling hills and view of the Mill Creek valley, is certainly a gem in the Cincinnati Park District, but like many urban parks, it has it's problems, too. The last cache I know of in this park was apparently lost to a homeless camp, and the wooded areas tend to be a little cluttered with trash. We packed out a little garbage when placing this cache, but there is still plenty around, so feel free to do a little CITO while hunting this one; I'm sure park maintenance would appreciate you doing so. There is some broken glass in the woods, so watch your step.

You are looking for an ammo box. Because of the potential for muggles around this cache, it will be important to rehide it as well as possible. Try to cover it up even better than you found it, so this one does not go missing, too. For a cacher, it will be an obvious hide, so there is no hint available.
