Located in the Boy Scout Mound area of Hoffman Park.
This is the area I basically grew up in while a kid. The memories abound! This is the Boy Scout Mound, or the Mound. I've wanted to place one here for a long time, and was scared the spot might be taken when I saw the others get placed. Capture the Flag, winter camping on school nights, winning the Fall Camporee with myself and two Tenderfeet, long walks with the girlfriend, scenic views watched with the girlfriend, and solitude and comtemplation all come to mind with this place. This used to be the location of the old water tower, which I note has recently been removed and a bench put in it's place. People that are camera saavy may want to have a camera and tripod for excellent sunset pictures. Stay a while, and have a scene excellent for time exposure night pictures. I reccommend trying it both in Summer and Winter as you can get different things both ways.
The elevation for this cache according to my GPS Legend in 1060 feet. This may be important. Hint. Hint. This is a large green coffee can, and it has been my most challenging cache to conceal yet. I mean this in that this is an area that is frequented by many, so please rehide it as you found. Those that know the area will find a place to park at the end of one of the streets for a quicker, albeit steep walk. A long, yet scenic walk can be had by parking in the north lot of Hoffman Park. No matter what, one must go uphill, and numerous trails cross the Mound.
There will be some signs that say No Entry. This is for the fenced off area of the current water tower, and it is ok to go around it.
This is a great area for caches....Someday I'll throw a multi just for the Mound.
