Geocache Description:

Close to a trout pool is where you'll find this fish out of water.

Park at Castle Ring car park N52° 42.685' W001° 56.243' The first-known inhabitants of Cannock Chase were the Cangi tribe who kept mostly to the hillsides. At Castle Ring the Highest point of the Chase (801 ft), we have one of the finest hill forts. The Romans built their Watling Street through the heart of the ancient forest. Following the dark ages the area became a royal hunting forest, first of the Mercian Kings and then as the King's forest of Cannock created by William the Conqueror and known as Cank Wood. Take a walk following the paths across the chase your GPS should easily lead you there after a good walk - muddy in places though - OK with a buggy following a dry spell. Look at the gallery for pictorial hints. NB. Ignore the number written on this cache. This was originally to be part of a multi-cache but the second half has now been removed.
