Pool of Bones Traditional Cache
46 Zulu 50: A year ago, we moved to the White Mountains and I'm no longer able to maintain this cache and the others we have in the area. I rode out today and picked up the cache container and it's being archived. Thanks to all who visited.

Unless you are on a quad, you'll need a 4WD vehicle to get here.
There is a fenced off, concrete pool at this spot. It was used to hold water for the mining operation that was once here. The pool holds the bones of cattle that were lured by their thirst to the pool, but found the walls too steep to escape.
There is also an old cement mixer on it's frame. Mixers were a cheap way to process ore and/or chemicals at a mine site. Another mixer barrel is laying on the ground. A few years ago, this barrel stood upright on four legs, probably serving as a water tower.
There are great views toward the Hassayampa River as you climb to this location from San Domingo Wash.
(Since this cache was placed, the BLM has cleaned up the spot, removing the mixers and other trash that was left behind by the mining operation. Recent finders have said in their logs, and shown in their photos, that even the bones in the pool are gone. 01/10)
