A walk out from Abercastle to view the spectacular Pembrokeshire coastline.
Please be aware that although the walk to the cache does not go too near to the edge, the cliffs are high and the grass can be slippery when wet. KEEP CHILDREN AND ANIMALS SUITABLY CONTROLLED.
The coastal path here gives spectacular views of the North Pembrokeshire Coast from Strumble Head to Porthgain. The Pen Castell-coch promontory is the site of an Iron Age fort.
The cliffs and islands provide nest sites for fulmars, cormorants, black-backed gulls, razor bills and guillemots. You may also see chough and peregrine hanging in the up-draught from the cliffs and gannets fishing out at sea. Seals are regularly seen in the sea below the cliffs and in the autumn seal pups can seen on the rocky beaches
In late spring the whole area is carpeted with wild flowers.
Take some time to sit and take it all in. If you come on a summer evening you may be lucky enough to catch one of the spectacular sunsets.
If you feel that you have earned a little refreshment we can recommend the Farmers Arms at Mathry, or The Sloop at Porthgain.
