Geocache Description:

The above coordinates ARE NOT the actual cache site, however, going there may help with the answers!

In 1851, an allegorical novel was published that chronicles the story of the struggle between man & nature. One of the main characters in the book is a non-human who interacts frequently with the human characters in the story. This book was dedicated to the author’s best friend, also an author of note, whose contributions to American literature include two major classics. Who was this second author? His first novel explores the aftermath of an elicit love affair and the second story explores the impact of a curse placed on one family. To decipher the coordinates of the cache, you must now solve the following puzzles which relate only to the second author!

1. To complete the decimal coordinates N 29 44.??? Take the year that the second above-mentioned classic was published, and subtract from that the year that Pope John XXII became pope. The correct answer will complete the latitude.

2. To complete the decimal coordinates W095 22.??? Take the year the first above-mentioned classic was published, and subtract from that - the year that King Edward the Elder of England died. The correct answer will complete the longitude.

NOTE –The FTF will find a small treat inside to ‘perk’ them up ($10 Starbucks card) after all that research! This is a small traditional with other assorted goodies inside, plus a log book – take a pen and PLEASE be discreet, this is a historic neighborhood.

Disclaimer: We ain’t American Lit professors here, so please don’t beat us up over our literary synopsis! Someone in this house (not ME!) loves to surf Geocaches all over the world and then dream up diabolical schemes from ideas he finds that others have tried! Did you know that there is a cache in Antarctica where you have to hire a helicopter to ferry you out to the cache site – AND 2 people have done that! Have Fun! Fire
