Geocache Description:

Stubben is a beautiful and wild area very close to the centre of Copenhagen. The area seems almost forgotten by the City Council and we really enjoy the clash between the concrete and iron constructions and the nature which seems to be taking over.

The 20 elements for the tunnel under Øresund were made in the area enclosed by embankments. After finishing two elements, the enclosed area was flooded and the elements were towed out into Øresund.
Each element is 176 meters long 38.8 meters wide, 22 meters tall and weighs 55.000 tons. You can still see a lot of rusty signs from when Stubben was a busy construction site.

Stubben is also very interesting because of the possibility to see rare birds a short distance away from Copenhagen. When the birds are migrating, Stubben is a natural place for them to stop for a rest and all year around interesting birds are here. 217 species of birds have been seen here including species rarely seen in Denmark, and you are almost certain to see many birds as pipits, snow bunting, cranes, hen harrier, larks and many waterfowl depending on the season.

NOTE: If you are scared of heights, this might not be the cache for you.
