This cache has been archived.

Nomex: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

An easy cache close to the University of Washington, to the Burke Gilman trail, in a memorial park dedicated to Peace. You are looking for a medium size glass jar, painted green. It is big enough for smallish exchange items and TBs. (The cache got muggled once, please try to be as stealthy as possible, and rehide it well.)

Come visit this world-known pocket park, dedicated to Peace. Take a few extra minutes after the find and think good thoughts while there.

Sadako and the Thousand Cranes"Peace Park was the dream of Dr. Floyd Schmoe, who after winning the Hiroshima Peace Prize in 1998 used the $5,000 prize money to clear a small lot near the University of Washington. From a pile of wrecked cars, garbage, and brush, he worked with community volunteers to build the beautiful Peace Park.

Peace Park is the current home of the Sadako and the Thousand Cranes sculpture, created in 1990 by artist Daryl Smith. The statue is a life-size bronze of Sadako Sasaki, the young Japanese girl who survived the Hiroshima bombing only to die of radiation sickness at age 12."

The park is often quite busy. The cache is a bit out of the way from the main area, but still fairly exposed, so please be as stealthy as possible.
Virgin Tbug for FTF :-)

Peace, out.
