All About Us Traditional Cache
nicowlala: Since we've moved from the area a couple of years ago, we're going to archive this one as unlikely to get back to renew it.
Was good fun while it lasted!

10 - 30 mins wooded / open park walk
depending where you start!
Paths from Vassels Park are suitable for buggies but the last 50
foot to cache location is not
Buggies attended by non-participating adult could be left just off
the path and would be visible from the cache site.
Cache is situated at Frenchay end of
Oldbury Court Estate on the Frome Valley Walkway.
While you're here, why not check out our new cache at the other
end of Oldbury Court -
'The Snuff Box'
We suggest starting from the car park at Vassals
Park - N51° 29.220 W002° 31.627
The car park has about 100 spaces but is very busy during the
summer.
The car park closes around 18.15hrs but do check the sign as this
may vary during the year.
This park has a large well equipped fenced children's play area,
toilets and usually an icecream van
From here the 10 - 15 minute walk can be followed along wide solid
paths.
An alternative route would be to start at Snuff
Mills - N51° 29.170 W002° 32.674
This car park shuts at 20.15hrs in the summer but again, do check
as this may vary.
At the entrance to this car park is a small cafe open 10.00hrs -
17.00hrs during the summer. Toilets are close by on the route to
the cache.
The paths along this 30 - 40 minute walk aren't suitable for
buggies if you follow the river path,
(which can also be very muddy at times).
Diverting to Vassels Park about 1/2 way along is much easier!
GPS reception may also be poor during summer months due to tree
cover.
The cache.
As this is our 1st hidden cache we’ve tried to make it personal to
who we are, hence the name –
“All About Us”.
It’s a small to middling sandwich box wrapped in a dark green
plastic bag.
The original contents include –
From me -
5cm K-band bandage – because I’m a nurse
Small plastic cow – because I love cows!
From hubby -
15mm compression fitting – he’s a pipe fitter
Purple shark bottle opener – he loves a beer (preferably real
ale!)
From our 8 1/2 year old daughter –
A poem she wrote about her fav TV star - Tracy Beaker.
10 mini fibre tip pens – she loves drawing.
From our 18 month old son.
A board book about trucks – he loves books, esp. ones he can
chew!
A sealed baby soother – we’re in the process of trying to wean him
off his!!!
It would be really great if all swaps said
something about you and details added in the log!
For those whose GPS's struggle with the tree cover, we've placed 5
film canisters close by, all with an approximate distance from the
cache - if you dont wish to use these 'clues' dont look
inside!!
Please feel free to feed back what you think of this idea & if
it helped or not.
Hungry? Thirsty?
Why not try out the nearby White Lion pub on Frenchay Common.
