A multi-part themed cache around Crescent Lake.
Crescent Lake is located in Southington and the terrain is intertwined with several loop trails : Green is a fairly dry wooded loop. Orange circles the shore of the lake. Red reaches onto the surrounding bluffs and runs with the Blue-Blazed Metacomet for some excellent views. Parking is at N41 38.811 W072 50.566. Crescent Lake is a Town Park and is only open in daylight hours. Don't get locked in the parking area at night. Dogs are okay on leashes.
The Alice in Wonderland cache takes liberties in referencing the characters and events of the Lewis Carroll classic (as well as some song lyrics of the 60s and 80s, but by no means follows the story. The final cache is a Rubbermaid container. The other caches are props from Alice's adventures and the hints are given at each successive cache. There are five in all so plan to spend a little time. This is appropriate for children with stamina, but very young children may have some trouble. Keep them close near the lake and near the cliffs along the Blue Trail. The caches themselves are not in dangerous locations.
Of special note is the first stage. You must not move a single stick or stone to find this stage. Use your eyes and your head and it shall be revealed
