As you might imagine, the ChainGang is quite familiar with trash collection. You have seen our likes walking highway roadsides, looking for small containers and collecting the discards of America's traveling public. Now, you can join us for a day!
Saturday, April 16th, 9:30 am - Noon
Usually we perform our cleanups under the watchful eye of the Sheriff's Department. This time, we have been assigned to the Blackstone Valley to Cache In Trash Out. The prison van will drop us off at the River Bend Farm Visitor Center in Blackstone River & Canal Heritage State Park, 287 Oak Street, Uxbridge MA. From there, we will be trashing out selected areas of the park.
The Park Ranger will be making the crew assignments. If you are able to come by and help out, please see him for the coordinates of an area that needs attention. If he is not available, look for instructions on a table that can be found inside the Visitor's Center.
We each have to fill SIXTEEN bags of trash to get work release credit. Just THREE bags are enough for you free people to get credit, and families of any size can get away with only FIVE. Please post photos of your collection if possible and deposit where instructed.
At noon, there will be a lunch and beverages served thanks to the efforts of the Blackstone Valley Youth Leadership Group who have organized this community service activity.
For those that can not make this date, there will be another opportunity for an Earth Day cleanup at a nearby location, along the proposed the route of the proposed bikeway, next Saturday, April 23rd. For others that would like to help, but need to make special arrangements, please email to profile, but we only get online access once in awhile for good behavior and then only with direct supervision.
