Heartland Cacher: Greetings from Geocaching.com I'm Heartland Cacher, one of the volunteer reviewers for new caches submitted to Geocaching.com.

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses from the Cache Owner about maintaining this cache which makes it appear the Cache Owner is either unwilling or unable to maintain the cache. Cache maintenance includes listing maintenance including updating any changes to the text, updating coordinates, removing needs maintenance attributes and enabling the listing. The cache will be archived and removed from the active cache listings. Should the owner decide to maintain the cache in the near future (30 days), just contact me (by email including the GCXXX and Cache Name), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, I'll be happy to unarchive it.

Thanks for your understanding,
Heartland Cacher

This cache can be approached from two directions, one with a little longer but less steep walk than the other. You are no more than .2 miles from either direction. The walk is on an established trail which goes over the top of the ridge from one side of town to the other. From the west, be careful as the trail is strewn with loose rocks and dirt and slipping is definitely a possibility. Once on top of the ridge, follow the natural 'sidewalk' toward the cache. When you are at the cache, there is a natural 'seat' where you can sit and log your find and even a 'table' of sorts if you want to stand to do the log. This cache is hidden in the rocks and covered by rocks and is contained in an ammo blox painted black and labeled on the outside. From the cache, you have a wonderful view of the back side of the Prison and the old historic water tower, not to mention a panoramic view of town and Elk Mountain in the distance to the east. The cache was started with the following items:

I hope this is a fun hide for you and it gets you off the beaten path. As I stated before, be careful how you proceed and where you step as there are lots of loose rocks and cactus is everywhere. In the summer there is a potential for snakes warming themselves on the rocks which are in abundance here. Getting there is a little bit of a workout but well worth the effort. Have fun!
