Geocache Description:

Located in Barboursville City Park, this cache can be found by taking a nice, relatively flat hike on the trails behind the lake.

In Barboursville, head up Martha Road to the entrance of the park. The coordinates of the entrance are 38d 23.934N and 082d 17.567W. Continue to follow the road until you come to the parking lot at the very end in front of the lake and park. Start out going clockwise on the walking trail around the lake. You will pass the shelter and the memorial garden and then come to a slight dip in the trail. At the top of this incline, there is a dirt trail to your left over the hill. There should be a swing and a bench to your right at the top of the trail. Follow this until you see a narrow path to your right just before the creek. Take this trail and follow it along the river for a while until the trail splits. If you have reached the train trestle, you have gone too far. You should be able to see it though from where the trail splits. Take the trail to your right, and you should see a rock formation ahead. From there, you’re on your own! The theme is crazy socks (anything from holiday themed to your favorite cartoon character), but there is really no restriction as to what can be put in the cache. Just make sure that your items are not too large. It is a round, small, clear Tupperware container with a red top.
