This cache has been archived.

MadMin: As there's been no action taken with this cache for a significant amount of time, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact me at ma.reviewer@gmail.com and if it meets the guidelines, I'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

NOTE 2/26/08 At long last this cache is back up and running but there have been significant changes. First of all it is now a three-part multi. Secondly, the first and third WPs have been changed (WP2 was changed a year ago). Finally I have added some hints to help you along the way. Difficulty remains about the same.

The entrance to Prouty Forest is at 32 Foster Street in Littleton MA. Look for the green and white sign that says "Prouty Community Forest" just beyond the police/fire station. Follow the dirt road (Wilderness Road) approximately 400 yards to the gate.

"The New England Forestry Foundation purchased this 107-acre property from the Prouty family in the fall of 2003 to establish an exemplary forest demonstration site. Prouty Woods is a truly unique and significant tract of woodland within minutes of Route 495. The property includes 1600 feet of frontage on Long Lake and the top of “Wilderness Hill” with expansive views to the west and north including Mount Monadnock. The combination of forest, hay field and riparian zones provides much-needed habitat for a variety of species. The forest has been under professional forest management for many years. Walking trails maintained by the Littleton Conservation Trust connect to a town-wide system of walking trails." (from New England Forestry Foundation web page)

This is a multi-cache with THREE waypoints and a final cache. The listed coordinates above are for the first waypoint. The others are on the loop trail which is approximately one mile in length with a moderate hill.

To make this a bit more challenging, each intermediate micro is hidden in a slightly different manner but all are within 70 feet of the trail. Each is camouflaged, but all are in plain sight/uncovered. The final cache is a standard lock 'n lock container and should be easier to find than the micros.

The container is on the small side. Original contents include log book and pen, finder's stickers (take one as souvenir - no need to trade), Magic Artist crayons, Scribbler (mini writing tablet), koosh toy, and two-pack card games (Fish and Old Maid).

Good luck!

UPDATE 5/7/08 I stopped by this morning and removed the letterbox WP. The cache WP is in place. I hope this resolves the confusion.

UPDATE 5/15/08 I tightened up the coordinates for WP1. These should get you closer: N42 31.906 W071 28.747.
