Pretty Wood Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Eccythumps: I visited today and sad to say it has in fact gone.

Still, it was also an excuse to visit the excellent pub in Welburn, it has gone up market since last I went and is a bit pricey but very good.

Thanks to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

This is part of the Castle Howard estate but there are plenty of public paths. There a few muddy spots so bring reasonable foot wear.

G:UK cache rating

You can access this cache by various paths. There is a quicker direct route or a short circular walk (about 2 miles), both from Welburn. You could start the circular at N54 06.031 W000 53.355 where you may also find a parking spot. Pick up the Centenary Way from here, through Todd Wood, the Four Faces, Pretty Wood and onwards.

If you are thirsty you might wish to head back to the village and the Crown and Cushion, which also has a garden if the weather is good. Alternatively, paths can take you further in to the estate.

As we placed the cache blue bells were just starting to show, I am hoping spring visitors may catch them in full swing.

The original cache contents were: toy cars, glitter, glitter glue pens and a magic trick.
