Parking at Lone Ranch. Nice walk down the beach, short walk up a hill, nice hike the rest of the way.
I put the terrain at a 3 because of the short steep hill. You will be looking for three stages. The first is a film canister, the second is not in a container, and the last is a plastic half gallon bottle covered with camo tape. And boy, is it hard to see!
This is approximately 2-1/2 to 3 miles round trip. We were unable to measure it. The first is sand, then a well maintained trail for the most part. There are a few holes in the trail to watch out for, but they are easy to see. When you get off the trail, really watch for those hidden holes in the grassy areas that seem to be all over this area. Also if you get too far off the path for a better view of the ocean, there seems to be quite a lot of poison oak. The cache's are not in poison oak.
At the final cache site, there is a rock west of the cache that can be climbed for an incredible view. I wouldn't know, it was covered with poison oak, but Mr Wind took a picture for me to look at!
Reception was a little spotty at the 2nd site, so may need to use the hint. You will NOT leave the Coastal Trail to retrieve the coords. The trail leads to the highway, where it ends for that section. DO NOT enter private property, this is placed on the Coastal Trail.
