Geocache Description:

Bronco Canyon is a great place well off the beaten path. The name came from the GBES rally in Virginia City (you will not understand unless you were there!) To my knowledge there are no egg rolls in this canyon, but if I were you I would keep an eye out for snakes.

2/11/06 Update: If you approach this cache from the West (going up the canyon) you can only get a jeep type vehicle within .65 mile. There must have been one heck of a flood because large portions of the road are now gone!

This is not going to be an easy cache unless you have a serious 4x4 or like to do a little hiking. Bronco Canyon is a rock crawler’s paradise deep in Storey County and if you venture into the canyon with your vehicle you had better know what you are doing.

There are at least three ways to get to this area from paved roads that I know of. Each will take from 5 to 10 miles of sometimes-rough and steep jeep trails.

You can start your adventure at one of these locations:
N 39° 28.849 W119° 37.191 or N 39° 25.192 W119° 38.102 or
N 39° 27.971 W119° 43.709 (start of Virginia Range Trek # 1)

Once you enter the canyon the cache will not be difficult to find, but you will have a short uphill hike over some brush and rocks.

This cache will take you through some very scenic areas. When we placed this cache the wild flowers were in bloom and the wild horses were tending to their new offspring.

Have fun, be carful and enjoy the scenery.
