As I was walking north along the river, this large inviting oxbow seemed like the perfect Swimming Hole. Naturally, I was considering a cache placement, "The Old Swimming Hole". That was when I noticed the CAUTION ALLIGATOR NESTING AREA sign. Still seemed a natural cache location. Okay, well away from the nesting area, but a good spot along the trail to admire the river.
This cache is one of a group along the new River Trail in Croom.
I've been told that the sign is the work of the property owner across the river. Not to protect alligators, or people from alligators, but to cut down on the boaters stopping and picnicking and swimming in the river at this natural swim hole. It works too!
