The “crater” and the old farm it was located on was known as
“Vinegar Hill” and it’s believed the name came from the clear view
one had of the town of Moulinette from up there. Only now the town
is submerged and the water is much higher and closer now. The
original cache location was to be near the remains of the farmhouse
and outbuildings but the overgrowth is beyond the acceptable limits
of bushwacking even for my ornery standards. To escape to the
south, locate the short corridor that starts near the 4 o’clock
position(12 @ hwy) at the crater and affords an easy access to the
winter east west trail corridor if you want some secluded access to
the lake (and raspberries!).
The cache is covered with some bark, vines leaves and situated
on a good firm base. The FTF prize is within feet nearby because it
won’t fit in the ammo box. I found it on my way to place this cache
and figured I’d just pass on the prize, which is about the only
good thing that happened during this hide. Oh wait, thanks to
Binrat for the box.
Congrats to Binrat and Geogranny for
getting the
FTF prize
The cache contains the usual logbook, pencils and trade items
consistent with the original theme of the cache which has now taken
a backseat.
PS pay attention to past logs, a beeline to this cache isn't the
wise choice.
