Geocache Description:

These are NOT the co-ordinates of the cache; they are for the nearest motorway junction (M53 Junction 3). Read on for more detail.

A “Wirralian” is a person who has made Wirral their home. Wirral is the peninsula between the rivers Mersey and Dee in the North-West of England. It covers about 60 square miles and benefits from a mild climate owing to its close proximity to both the sea and the two rivers. Nowadays, many Wirralians work ‘across the water’ in the City of Liverpool, or travel to the nearby City of Chester. Whilst visiting, the Wirralian-Alien hid his valuable cache of treasure in a safe place on Wirral. Unfortunately most of the grid reference (represented below by letters A through H) was forgotten. However, all is not lost. The Wirralian-Aliens diary listed the many interesting places on Wirral that had been visited, and the things that had been done; so with the help of these eight pieces of information, can you assist in finding the missing numbers, and then the cache of treasure? (Note that local knowledge, books and maps are not required to find these missing numbers) Substitute the correct digits for the letters in N 53° A.BCD W 003° E.FGH to find the cache. A) Morning at Tom O’Shanters Urban Farm. Fed the ducks, pigs, sheep and a goat Went yachting on West Kirby marine lake in the afternoon. B) Viewed the Liverpool waterfront from the promenade whilst going between Seacombe and New Brighton. In Egremont we had a drink and a bite to eat for lunch. C) Walked the Wirral Way footpath from Willaston, eastwards to its finish in Hooton. D) Tranmere Rovers vs Chester City. Tranmere played well and came away with a win. Ought to have scored a couple more goals E) Visited historic warships (HMS Plymouth & HMS Onyx) at Birkenhead wharf. Our tour also included U-534 (a German U-boat) F) Birkenhead Central Library all day. Researched the successor to king Darius (I) - Xerxes who was king of Persia 486–465 BC. G) Went to the new Irish Sea ferry terminal in Wallasey (used for both freight and passengers) H) Explored Parkgate. It was hot and sunny with a gentle breeze. Ropewalk was quiet whilst the parade was very busy The cache is adjacent to a main footpath through woodland, so please ensure it is quiet before starting searching and replacing the cache. Also, when hiding the cache, ensure it is not visible from the path. It is shorter and easier to approach from the west, though an easterly approach is also available. As the terrain is in woodland, and the ground undulates, it is not suitable for prams. The trees do affect GPS signals, but the co-ordinates you will calculate are an average of several separate visits. Happy Hunting!!
