Geocache Description:

Anyone who has travelled along the stretch of the A19 between the minor road leading to Osmotherly and The Cleveland Tontine Hotel will probably have noticed the aerial array high above on the hill line.
This is a BT microwave radio station which helps to relay telephone messages, telecommunication data and TV signals. Micro radio waves travel by line of sight and so it is essential that the aerials are situated at high points. Nevertheless they have kept the size of the aerials to a minimum so as not to detract from the beauty of the National Park. The height of the hill on which they stand is 982 ft above sea level.

The Cleveland Way passes right by the aerial compound and the cache is also accessed from this famous long distance footpath. It can be reached on foot from the village of Osmotherly but the best starting point is probably from the small car park at N 54 23.747 W 001 16 395 on the minor road between Osmotherly and Swainby. The Lyke Wake Walk/Cleveland Way actually crosses the minor road at this point.
