Second in a series of
caches remembering the characters, events, and memorable stories associated with
the Andy Griffith Show. Otis Campbell (Hal Smith), the lovable
town drunk of Mayberry always hid his still (and his other illegal sources of
moonshine) from Andy and Barney. In one episode, Barney is trying to make
him give up his hiding place, “Otis Campbell, Where is the still?!”
Not far from the cache site is Campbell Drive. Just imagine…if this
were Mayberry, North Carolina, Otis might have lived in the area…and hidden his
still within walking distance of his home. Maybe you can find what’s
hidden in place of his still.

This is a somewhat
maintained area of the park. Part of the picnic area has been abandoned,
and some of the concrete tables have been taken over by the forest. There
are a few good fishing points with a great view of the lake as well.
