Geocache Description:

Near Hixon Falls

One of the fun things about Geocaching, is finding places you would never think to go to, or know about.
This is one of those places.
This cache is located close to the base of Hixon Falls, 3.8km from Hixon, BC on Hixon Creek.
Turn off Hwy 97 onto Hixon Creek Road. There is a sign there for Hixon Falls.
The road in is suitable for cars and Dual-Purpose motorcycles.
200m past the Transfer Station, stay to the left.
Park at N53 26.880, W122 33.587. The trail to the falls is well marked, out of the NE corner of the parking area.
Would also be a nice place for a picnic.
The coordinates given will get you within sight of the falls. However, you could be out of sight of any satellites, because of the narrow canyon you are in. Please check the photo included, so you have an idea where to start looking!
On the way out, look for signs marking the way to "The Chutes". You don't see the sign on the way in.
There is an easy walk to the top of the falls, through the cut in front of you as you drive into the parking area.
The cache is small and contains a Log Book and pencil, a Geocaching letter, Smashed Pennies and a special "First To Find" button.
Hixon Creek was mined extensively for gold, several times. Evidence of this activity can be seen in several places.
