Wetlands area. Terrain not difficult but can be soggy.
This is located in a small neighborhood park that is near a public school. The park has a small play structure and also serves as a natural habitat for lots of wildlife since much of the park is unimproved and stays wet during much of the year. Plan to find this one in warmer months or bring your rubber boots.
There is a path that is used by people all the time, so stealth is important to not disclose the location. Be quick and be quiet.
At N 45 o 18.228' W 122 o 47.433'
Find the small round yellow “Petroleum Pipeline” marker on the ground and write down the numbers on the bottom of the circle.
Then look for the nearby play structure. Count the number of boards on the suspension bridge.
Using the numbers from the marker and the bridge, solve the following for the next location:
N 45 o 18.ABC W 122 o 47.DEF
Where:
A = the 2nd number on the marker
B = the 4th number
C = the 10th number
D = the 4th number minus the 2nd number
E = number of steps on the bridge minus the 1st number on the marker
F = the 7th number
It’s a short walk through the park to the next location. At the next location, count the number of animals you see in the picture, and walk that many yards to the North between the “living goal posts”.
