Geocache Description:

In the spirit of 'hidden trailhead' caches, here's a log only micro pointing out the 'Sunset Gate', the shortest way to the serpentine grasslands of Edgewood Preserve. There is no separate parking lot here, and the roads are narrow and twisty: Please respect the 'No Parking' signs in the neighborhood.

While you're here, try a short walk past the gate to the boulder at N 37 27.720 W 122 16.634, a mass of serpentine displaying the light green polish called slickensides, created by sheering and polishing in a fault zone: You are standing about two miles from the main San Andreas fault trace, on the near side of the ridge to the west. The short oaks between here and the cache locations are leather oak (Quercus durata), found only in serpentine chaparral habitat.

(Power lines overhead may affect your fix, proceed accordingly.)
