Geocache Description:

Cache is a magnetic key case with a mini-log, a mini-pencil and info about Geocaching. Please be discreet in your hunt for this one.

This hunt will take you to Seward Park in Auburn, NY. Seward's Auburn residence is adjacent to the public park.

William H. Seward was born in New York State in 1801. In 1823, he established himself in Auburn, New York. Auburn would remain his home for the rest of his life. He served as state senator and, in 1838, won his first term as governor. He was reelected in 1840. He served as Secretary of State in the Cabinets of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson from 1861 to 1869. While Secretary of State he concluded the treaty with Russia for the purchase of Alaska (referred to at the time as Seward's Folly). He died in Auburn, Cayuga County, N.Y., October 10, 1872 and is interred in Fort Hill Cemetery.
