Geocache Description:

A coffee can of goodies hidden a few yards off the trail. This is a good trail for mountain bikes. The rangers at Pipestem are very concerned about environmental damage caused by off-trail activity. All Pipestem caches are located within 50 feet of the trail. Do not attempt to bushwhack to this or any Pipestem cache.

The coordinates given above are for a point on the Lake Shore Lake Trail below the lake. The staff of Pipestem Resort request that you check in at the Nature Center to receive a copy of the coordinates for all seven of the Lost Caches of Pipestem Resort.

Hours for the Nature Center are:

Summer: Tuesday – Sunday 11:00 am to 4:30 pm

Winter Saturday 12:30 – 4:30
Sunday 10:30 – 2:30

Spring and Fall Wednesday – Sunday 12:30 – 4:30

If you call ahead (304-466-1800) we will attempt to make special arrangements to provide you with the coordinates.

Do not attempt to follow the Lake Shore Trail from the main road (unless you are on horseback). It is impassable due to horse traffic and mud. There's lots of parking at the arboretum. Follow Long Branch Lake Road (N37 32.448 W080 59. 020) to the coordinates given above. Pick Lake Shore Trail up there. You will NOT actually be walking along the lake shore. In fact you can't see the lake along most of this trail.
