The seventh in a series of caches located on or close to the
Sandstone Trail.
The Sandstone Trail is a long distance trail running 32 miles
from Frodsham to Whitchurch. This cache is located along a sunken
track which descends to Willington Lane and on to Beeston Gap. As
you descend the lane the village to the right is Willington, its
picturesque setting earned it the name of “Little Switzerland”. The
promontory above it is Kelsborrow Castle, a former iron age fort.
.
The best place to park is at N53 12 026 W002 41.414 or the
Summer Trees Tea Room (check the opening times first). The
co-ordinates for the cache are an average of several readings over
a couple of visits.
Food and drink is available nearby at Willington Hall (continue
walking down the trail and turn right when you reach the road) or
at the Boot in Willington as well as Summer Trees Tea Room. It’s
worth spending some time exploring the area as there are some
terrific walks and great views (admittedly we are biased).
This cache is the usual tupperware container in the usual
camouflage bag. Please make sure that the cache is properly
concealed when you replace it.
If you want to know why the cache is named Forsyte and
Sandstone the answer is written on the inside cover of the log
book.
