Geocaching agent Anna Moore meets the Pirates...
The mighty castle "Anamure Kalesi" was built by the Seldjuks
around 1000-1200 A.D. They were feared as pirates throughout the
whole Eastern Mediterranean Sea, as they often raided the coasts
and the Greek islands for slaves...

This cache is a micro cache located inside the castle. Although
there are some ways to access the castle from the sea side avoiding
the little entrance fee, we recommend to enter this very
interesting castle the official way...(2,- YTL ~ 2,-US$ ~ 1.5€ in
2005 per adult)
There is a lot to see and explore: Almost all towers and walls
can be accessed, and there are numerous passageways inside the
towers and walls... A little flashlight might come in handy. The
best of all: There are only very few people visiting this
place!
The little mosque inside the castle is from the early 19th
century. Take your time to enjoy this true Pirates' hide out...
Remember that this is a micro cache, a 35mm film canister.
Please bring your own pencil to sign the log sheet. The cache
requires accessing the small passages on top of the walls. Please
be careful, there are no banisters!
The cache is maintained by Mustafa Sagin and family. We tried to
explain Geocaching to the guard. However, as they change
occasionally, it is best to keep a certain amount of stealth...
