I was describing geocaching to a non-geocacher (haven't we all), and one of
the first questions he asked was,
"How many have you hidden?"
"Well, none... yet.", I said.
"So, you're like a parasite?", he asked.
I explained that this wasn't the case at all, that I played the game as
intended, trading items, moving travel bugs, and such. But on some level, I
felt that I needed to place a first cache. I noted a couple of likely
parks, but while I procrastinated others placed caches there.
Then I searched for caches around Cobleskill, knowing I'd be there today.
I was surprised to find none within almost 10 miles. Goodness,
Cobleskill needed a cache, and now it has one. (Almost--the cache is
actually just over the bridge into Warnerville.)
Park off of Rt 7/Rt 10 near the soccer field. Look for a trailhead at the
opposite corner of the field. Note that the trail wasn't bad today, but it
will be muddy after a rain.
