Geocache Description:

A simple cache hidden within the LaSalle Woods, adjacent to Brunet Park.

In the 1920’s, plans were set in motion to develop a major steel mill complex on the Canadian side of the Detroit River south of Windsor. The developer intended for a community, to be named Ojibway, to grow up around the steel mill and provide homes for its workers. Unfortunately, The Great Depression scuttled those plans, but not before thousands of tiny lots were laid out across what is now LaSalle and the southern end of Windsor. (Visit www.ojibway.ca/history.htm for a more detailed history.) Today, all that’s left are stretches of sidewalk within what have again become woodlands. (In addition to the two in this park, there are segments of sidewalk in the woods behind South Windsor Arena.)

The easiest way to find this cache would be to locate either of the sidewalks through the woods, and follow them until your GPSr tells you that you are, if you'll pardon the pun, “in the neighbourhood.” Access points to the two sidewalks are given by the waypoints below. (Sure, you can just crash through the bush to get to the cache, too, but where's the novelty in that?) Please be sure to return it to it’s hiding spot, lest any of the geomuggles who frequent the park stumble upon it.

The cache last received maintenance on May 31, 2020.

First Finder: Lucyinthesky (May 16, 2005).

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll enjoy the hunt.
