Pooh Cache at the Largay Memorial Perserve Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

JAMM: Well this one had a great run... but not the original hiding place is gone and so is the container which most likely fell victim to poor re-hiding and subsequent "youthful" activity.

It was a nice walk around the lake this morning with Lizzie in tow (make that me in tow) - great weather and great color. Ran into an old friend whom I had not seen in quite a while. Curiously he knew more about the recent movements of my cache than I did.

Geocache Description:

The John Largay Memorial Preserve is just off Rout 64 in Middlebury. Parking Coordinates: N41 31.292 W073 08.348.

For the kids: While returning from the North Pole Pooh lost his way. He stopped to rest by the side of a lake now known as Lake Elise in the John Largay Memorial Preserve (a Middlebury Land Trust Property). Being a silly old bear he left behind his cache of goodies that he had collected. Pooh needs your help to find it; as a reward he would happily trade one of his goodies for one of yours.

For the adults: JAMM has multiple personalities … this cache is an attempt to please them all. The cache is well hidden near the lake. We first wanted to put it on the island but there is no way to get there. Many years ago Lake Elise served as the water source for the center of Middlebury including Westover School. Today that need is served by wells, you may see them in the area. The property is well maintained, the path is wide and flat and easy to navigate.

What’s in the Cache? Lot’s of cool stuff. In the tradition of Bob and Angelica (who’s cache we found first) we tried to have it well stocked. It includes a dog toy for YodaDog – a reward for a good hide on the bridge, slippers for Barefoot – going Barefoot in the woods can be dangerous, a magnifying glass so MilesStone can find Katydid. A compass for CTGeoscout – “Be Prepared”. A whistle for the Honey Wolves – so thier masters can call them home. Hulk and Spiderman playing cards – a blast from our past – for devinpro. Thanks to all of you and Eversole, Geo Ho & Mopar, Zingerhead for our first caches. Lot’s of other great stuff too… too much to list here.
