Geocache Description:

Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre Webcam Cache

This one's an easy find along a very scenic area of Vancouver's waterfront. You'll have a great view of the expansion to the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre being built downtown.

Construction has finally begun on the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre expansion. When it opens in the summer of 2008, meeting, exhibit and function space will total almost 500,000 square feet (45,690 square meters). The facility is adding close to 360,000 square feet (34,000 square meters) of new space in an incredible development project immediately adjacent to the current centre. Sitting on the water's edge by the beautiful Pacific, breath-taking views of ocean and mountains are the backdrop to all events. The new facility will have seamless connection to the current centre and will also offer additional retail and parking space to be enjoyed by visitors and locals alike. So, drop by this cache and check out the progress on the ongoing construction.

This cache, like most webcam caches, requires a team effort!

Revisions

Updated June 2, 2008: Temporary Revised Coordinates: D'oh. Made a cut-and-paste mistake with the May 26th coords. Try standing at N 49° 17.288 W 123° 06.908 (confirmed by wecksing) If you are there, then this (visit link) will get the picture required.

Updated May 26, 2008: Temporary Revised Coordinates: Construction is happening at a furious pace now, which makes coming up with stable coordinates a constant battle. Try standing at N 49° 17.372 W 123° 07.169 (to be confirmed) If you are there, then this (visit link) will get the picture required.

Updated March 19, 2008: Temporary Revised Coordinates: Try standing at N 49° 17.372 W 123° 07.169 If you are there, then this (visit link) will get the picture required. Unfortunately I can't move the "official" location of this cache over there because it is 331m away from the original location of the cache. Hopefully this is a temporary move and we'll have access closer to the posted coords soon.

Updated November 17, 2005: This cache was moved 131 meters from its original location of N 49° 17.291 W 123° 06.925. You were previously required to stand in front of a plaque which has since been demolished due to the VCEC construction. Take a look at what it looks like now.
